PARKS & RECREATION COMMITTEE MEETING

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING SCHEDULED FOR

September 6th, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.

 

Regularly scheduled meeting called to order at 7:02 p.m. by Chairwoman Mary Agnes Simons in the Conference Room and attendance taken.

 

Members Present:   E. Sue Terhune, Jynil Schneider, Vickie Perreman and Mary Agnes Simons.

 

Members Absent:      Maureen Weller, Excused;  Stefano Casadei, Excused; Sondra Steers, Excused; Michelle Davis, Excused

 

Audience Attendance:   None

 

1.  MINUTES:

 

Minutes for August 20th, 2007 Meeting, were handed out for review by Simons. 

 

ACTION:  It was moved by Terhune, seconded by Simons, to approve the minutes of the 8-20-07 meeting, as presented and place them on file.  All Ayes.   Motion Carried.

 

2.  PUBLIC COMMENTS:

 

No Public Comments.

 

3.  FINANCIAL REPORT:

 

Sure Terhune advised that the "208" account has not been replenished with the budget money that was provided by the Township Board due to auditor delay.  She also stated that we will be receiving $15,889.12 from St. Clair County mileage dollars for 2007.  Once the audit has been proven, these funds will be disbursed.

 

Vickie Perreman, Treasurer, indicated that an invoice for $100.00 from TUGS Concessions was submitted for the township picnic.  She said she will be checking into bills that need to be paid for October.

 

ACTION:     No Action Needed

 

4. BASKETBALL COURT SEALING:

 

Mary Agnes Simons advised that the basketball court sealing was approved by the full board in the amount of $564.00.   The sealing will be done by Astec Asphalt out of Brown City, MI.

5.  WALKING PATH BIDDING PROCESS:

 

Mary Agnes Simons explained that the walking path project will be put out to be rebid.  Decisions will be made in the near future on who to send the bids to.  The request should be sent to five contractors.

 

6.  ANNUAL TOWNSHIP PICNIC DISCUSSION:

 

Mary Agnes Simons distributed a picnic flyer to the committee for discussion.  This flyer was distributed at Belle River Elementary, and an ad regarding the flyer was put in The Voice Newspaper by Sondra Steers.

 

The event will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2007 from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.

 

Lunch will be served by TUGS Concessions.

 

Jynil Schneider will be our Clown with balloons and temporary tattoos and will be paid $100 for the 3 hours. 

 

Jynil’s husband, William (aka Stan The Fireman) will bring his Fire Truck in from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. for $75 per hour. 

 

Marine City fire trucks will be on display.

 

ABC Wasps has been out to spray in preparation for the picnic. 

 

7.  ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION:

 

No round table discussion.

 

 

8.  ADJOURNMENT:       7:25 p.m.
